Local residents Ryli and Josh Dishno started the Eagle River Pet Company (Pet Boutique and Spa) in early 2022. From the beginning they listened to their customers and added numerous product assortments for local pet owners, growing their business substantially. Their German Shepherd, River spends most of her time behind the front counter, just where she started as a puppy.
The Dishno’s strive to bring higher quality pet products to the Northwoods. Ryli states “We take a more natural and holistic approach to pet products to help make pets in the Northwoods happy and healthy” with many Wisconsin brands and items by local artisans.
Their patrons shop for Man’s Best Friend, the family dog. Supplies at the boutique are abundant and varied; the shop includes cat supplies as well. There is also a limited supply of bird and fish products. The boutique is already prepared for Halloween with "on trend" items.
Conventional products include pet food, soft toys that make your pet work for the inside treat, chew toys, canned and packaged products, leashes and collars.
Unique items include pet supplements, (to calm and relax pets), recovery wraps so pets don’t have to wear the ‘cone of shame,’ frozen vital essentials, slow-feeder plates, custom bowls created by local crafters, toys that divert, amuse and stimulate pets to prevent boredom. The Mud Buster dirty paw cleaner and the Scratch Square for treats encourages dogs to ‘file’ their nails. Natural protection includes the Tickless ultrasonic tick and flea repellent affixed to your pet’s collar; some pet owners prefer to avoid prescription medications. There is even a product using dog hair to diagnose pet allergies.
Full grooming services are available for pets in downtown Eagle River. Josh and others are busy in the backroom grooming, sprucing up, shampooing and combing. Many pet owners schedule appointments months in advance; current bookings extend to November.
A bin up front collects donations for local rescue sites, a pet food pantry and events that host adoption. Ryli states they are “passionate about helping local pets in need; we donate to local humane societies, rescues, and pet food pantries when we can as well as host adoption events.”
Josh asserts, “My favorite part of our business is making lasting connections with customers and their pets.” Ryli adds that “Pets are family, and we believe they should be treated as such!”
