Eagle River's Last Resort is a family owned and operated resort with eight cottages located on Otter Lake. Established in 1982, their mission is to help families create lasting memories. The resort is owned and operated by the Lumley family.
According to Lizzie Lumley, daughter of John and Carol Lumley, for Eagle River's Last Resort family is their center focus.
"Many of the families coming to the Last Resort have been doing so for 30 plus years," said Lizzie. "Kids who grew up vacationing at the Last Resort now have their own kids and are creating the tradition of Eagle River and The Last Resort with their new family."
The hospitality shown by the Lumley family keeps bringing people back to Eagle River and bringing new visitors as their satisfied customers spread the word. More tourists to the area provide more revenue for area businesses. The Last Resort strives to leave a positive impression of the Eagle River area on each guest so that they go home telling everyone about the great experience they had.
In the spirit of giving back to the community, the Lumley's volunteer for chamber events, and give-away free weekend stays to the chamber to help them promote subscribers to the newsletter that promote Eagle River. The Lumley's have also given away multiple free weeks of vacations to returning soldiers and veterans.
Congratulations to Eagle River's Last Resort for 38 years in business providing great customer service and experiences to Eagle River visitors, and providing a positive influence on the Eagle River community.
About the Business of the Month
As part of our mission to support area businesses in February we launched a new feature recognizing a Business of the Month! The Business of the Month is featured on our website, social media, e-newsletter, news release and will be entered into a nomination for the Business of the Year Award announced at the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation Annual Meeting in December. All nominations are selected by the VCEDC Executive Committee.
